Let’s start thinking about bedfellows

Courtesy of a timely email from a friend (thanks, Sharon), I was reminded again of all the Leftist organizations around the world that have crawled into bed with Hezbollah in the last several years. Here’s one story:

In September 2004, there was a huge gathering of anti-American, anti-Israeli organizations in Beirut to attend a conference entitled “Where Next For The Global Anti-War And Anti-Globalization Movements? An International Strategy Meeting.” The resulting manifesto, simultaneously turgid and strident, has as its primary goal attacking the U.S. war in Iraq. It’s secondary goal is to challenge Israel’s “occupation” of Palestinian lands. It’s a nasty document, with a decidedly anti-American tone. What makes it interesting today is the identity of one of the organizations playing host to all these anti-American Leftist organizations: Hezbollah (identified on the last page as one of the Local Welcoming Committees).

Aside from the little refresher about American and Israeli friends and enemies, the document has a couple more interesting participants. First, George Galloway was one of the attendees. You remember him, don’t you? He’s Saddam Hussein’s good buddy, Fidel Castro’s good buddy, a rabid anti-American, and someone who looks loathsome in a cat suit. (Little Green Footballs has been tracking Galloway’s exploits for some time. Just go to LGF and, in the search box, enter the world Galloway. You’ll enter a world of disgusting with all the posts that are returned on that subject.)

Second, one of the participants from the United States was a group called United for Peace and Justice. Ordinarily, this would just be one of the icky little anti-American groups that America produces, along the lines of Code Pink : Women for Peace (which also attended this little American and Israel hatefest). What distinguishes United for Peace and Justice is that Teresa Kerry funds it. So, in 2004, a couple of months before Americans decided whether to put John Kerry in the White House, his wife’s money was being used to fund one of the participants in a virulently anti-American meeting held in Beirut and hosted by Hezbollah. Once again, we have reason to be grateful that American voters put their money on George Bush.

UPDATE: For a little primer regarding Hezbollah’s deadly relationship with America, read this American Thinker post.

UPDATE II: Welcome FARK readers. I just wanted to set the record straight about FARK’s summary of my post. The summary says “Blogger claims John and Teresa Heinz-Kerry are financing Hezbollah thru a series of conections every bit as plausible as the NYT’s chart connecting Bush with the Swift Boaters.” [Emphasis mine.] If I had indeed said that, I would certainly agree with the FARK poster that the scenario I posited is unlikely. However, I didn’t say Kerry was funding Hezbollah. I did say that Heinz-Kerry’s money was used to fund an organization that got into bed with Hezbollah politically — and I continue to believe this is an accurate statement. While it’s true, as Best of the Web Today points out, that Teresa Heinz Kerry didn’t write a check directly to United for Peace and Justice, her organization, the Tides Foundation, certainly did — and that’s quite a close connection between the Kerrys and a fringe political organization that only two years ago cuddled up to Hezbollah.

  1. I’ll do without the primer. Hezbollah has a blood debt that will be settled eventually by the United States Marines and Army warriors.

America takes long in getting ahold of justice, but we get ours eventually.

  2. Don’t forget the other sinister creep who recently paid a friendly visit with Hezbollah:

  3. Sorry, in that last comment, the Memri TV reference should be to TV clip number 1136 …

  4. Congratulations on your mention in the Thursday edition of Best of the Web Today at Opinion Journal.Com:

Just want to add that I haven’t bought Heinz Ketchup since 2004! Ketchup is ketchup, so might as well give my ketchup dollars to a company where the profits don’t go to fund terrorists.

  5. Loved your piece on John Kerry and the Hezbollah. Did you know that you can make the same kinds of connections between the Bush family and Adolph Hitler? Just goes to show you what a causal chain can produce.

  6. Did you know that only guillible people believe a threat just because they are afraid it is true?

It’s Teresa Heinz-Kerry und Hez, which I believe has now been returned to Teresa Heinz, not “John Kerry and Hezbollah”.

Did you also know that Bush’s wife was funding the national socialist club of the Left, too?

  7. That’s rather elementary thinking, gpenny. As I carefully pointed out, it’s a pretty close causal connection when T. H. Kerry’s money is being poured in the Tide Foundation, which pays to send a nutcase group to party with Hezbollah. Perhaps Ms. H-Kerry should be watching her money a little more carefully — and if she’s not, she’s either grossly careless or she really doesn’t mind that her money is going to fund people cuddling up to one of the world’s most murderous organizations. Either is not good, and both have nothing to do with Bush and Hitler. (Although it was incredibly clever of you to come up with the Bush/Hitler connection. I don’t think anyone’s ever connected Bush and Hitler before.)

  8. Plausible deniability is a requirement for the rich. I don’t think anyone has ever connected Laura Bush to Hitler before, but there’s always a first time for george as he mentioned Bush’s “family”.
