Wet, wet and more wet

This is one of the rainiest days I can remember in I don’t know how long. Huge drops of water falling steadily for hours. I live on a hill and the street in front of my house looks like a river. My back yard is flat and flooded. I’m pretty sure I caught a quick glimpse of Noah floating by.

And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

  1. The snowpack in the Sierras continues apace. There is 8 feet now at my place up in the mountains. California should be in pretty good shape this year for water.

It does seem a little strange. Normally our low snowpack runs in seven year cycles, followed by three years of high snow pack. This last one we only had three years of low snowpack.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…

  2. The Flood did happen. 7500 years ago. In the Black Lake basin. It was a fresh water lake then. Black Sea now. Read “Noah”s Flood” by William Ryan and Walter Pittman, copywright 1998. It’s a very interesting read.
Now, with the possibility that a large asteroid could strike Mars in the next two years, I wonder what other cataclizmic events (that actually happened) are recorded in that “fairy tale” called the Bible.
Sorry for being so strident. The campaign news is …….

  3. It’s the newest threat: Anthropogenic Global Moistening.

  4. Confusing what is “normal” with what’s “in my experience” is the fallacy that’s driving the Global warming hysteria (said Miss cranky-pants).

  5. Raindrops keep falling on my head
But that doesnt mean my eyes will soon be turnin red
    Cryings not for me
Cause Im never gonna stop the rain by complainin
    Because Im free
    Nothings worrying me.

  6. That picture of Noah’s Ark is fake, fake, fake!

It didn’t have a DirecTV Satellite Dish attached to the roof.
Clearly, there’s no way to keep the kids busy… and how would Noah’s Family be able to keep up with the news about Britney? Or the breathless 24-7 news coverage of the latest nubile young blond thing to disappear in America – as opposed to the other 1.2 million each year who also disappear? How could Noah’s Family survive wtihout 24-7 coverage of the latest celebrity suicide? Or someone living within 500 miles appearing on American Idol with a neato new hairdo? Or the Amazing Race – this time, with every episode on rafts?
