One would hope….

Lindsay Lohan made a great, and clearly inadvertent, pun following her departure from rehab:

“It was a sobering experience,” Lohan says in an interview with OK! magazine. “It was humbling. It made me look at myself, and all of the people, places and things in my life in a different way. I was in there for substance abuse, after all.” (Emphasis mine.)

One would hope that a stint in rehab is, in fact, a sobering experience.

I wish Lohan much luck. She is a very talented young woman, and can so easily slip into being a wasted talent and, even worse, a lost human being.

  1. Howdy Bookworm,

I’ve had many experiences with drug addicts and alcoholics and unfortunately it is as rare as hen’s teeth for a person not to destroy themselves before getting sober. In my experience, most of the time an addict would have to hit a bottom before they even begin to deal with their problem.

Miss Lohan here seems to be of the drug addict mold. I hope she does the actions to sober up before it’s too late. In all the news regarding our celebrity culture’s “pop tarts” its like watching a train wreck. From Miss Lohan to Britney Spears to… well, the list is quite long; we’re bystanders in watching these women destroy their lives and most of America cackles with obvious relish.

I feel sorry for them. How are these ladies going to get off the escalator before it hits the bottom floor with the world flattering them on the one hand and damning them on the other? They were just children when all this began… I wonder: Being children, was there ever a chance it could have gone somewhere different before they got their first high at being famous?
