It’s a little before 8 in the morning here and, for the last half hour, my house has been filled with an eerie red glow, coming from the bright red sun in the sky. I know that it’s probably because of a big fire that has been burning within a 70 mile radius of my home, but there’ve been other big fires and I’ve never seen a phenomenon like this. It creates this weird inversion of day and night, with the rising sun in the East having the red glow of the setting sun in the West.

Uh oh! Have you been bad? Should you worry?
That’s a striking image in words and pictures, Bookworm. I ran into the same phenomenon in San Diego in October of 2003, when fires were bad there.
Is that the view outside today, from your kitchen window?
