A perfect storm

What do you get when you cross a professional group known for its arrogance, with a religious group known for its violence, with government that view the professional group as optimal immigrants, entitled to priority? You get this (emphasis mine):

A group of 45 Muslim doctors threatened to use car bombs and rocket grenades in terrorist attacks in the United States during discussions on an extremist internet chat site.

Police found details of the discussions on a site run by one of a three-strong “cyber-terrorist” gang.

They were discovered at the home of Younis Tsouli, 23, Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London heard.

One message read: “We are 45 doctors and we are determined to undertake jihad and take the battle inside America.

“The first target which will be penetrated by nine brothers is the naval base which gives shelter to the ship Kennedy.” This is thought to have been a reference to the USS John F Kennedy, which is often at Mayport Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida.

The message discussed targets at the base, adding: “These are clubs for naked women which are opposite the First and Third units.”

It also referred to using six Chevrolet GT vehicles and three fishing boats and blowing up petrol tanks with rocket propelled grenades.

Investigators have found no link between the Tsouli chat room and the group of doctors and medics currently in custody over attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.

However, sources said it was “definitely spooky” that the use of doctors for terrorist purposes was being discussed in jihadi terrorist circles up to three years ago.

Part of the inquiry into the London and Glasgow incidents will focus on whether al-Qa’eda has recruited doctors or other medical professionals because they are less likely to attract suspicion and can move easily around the western world.

  1. I don’t understand why it’s spooky. It should be obvious by now, in contradistinction to the accepted PC version of events, that jihad is not confined to the poor, downtrodden, down-and-outers in Islamic society. It’s the clearly-stated-in-the-Koran-duty of all Muslims. Let us not forget that Osmama bin Laden’s daddy is a billionaire construction maggot. (I mean; magnate.) Little Osama was born with a silver AK-47 in his pocket.

It’s good, though. Maybe – if anything can – this will help wake the PC crowd up what’s going on here.

  2. It would be interesting (though probably impossible) to know if there were any Muslims going through medical school with jihad in mind.

But only slightly more interesting than doctors becoming jihadists…as it appears to be the case here.

Because…medical school represents a huge commitment of personal time and effort. To me…that’s a step above the inherited or otherwise acquired wealth of OBL and other idle rich in the Middle East.

To go through all that only to then…

    Damn. Just…DAMN.

  3. Kill them all. What’s the problem, they told you who they were. They think they’re immortal or something? And what about their audience, do they believe they are invulnerable to doctors?

This is almost as bad as Sadr’s loyalists being in the Maliki government. You can’t get clearer targets, people. They have told you who they are, yet you do nothing because people are running on the police model. I suppose that’ll work, up to the point that the amateur terrorists get Iranian state support and become not so amateurish anymore.

  4. I don’t think it’s impossible at all to know what’s on their minds,, Kurt. As Y says: they’ve told you who they are. They KEEP tellings us who they are. Cabdrivers, doctors, taxidermists, plumbers, writers, teachers, electricians, lumberjacks, rodeo clowns: if they are true believers they’re all jihadists first, anything else second. What they do for a living is entirely irrelevant to that.

For 1,400 years they have been telling us two things about business: 1) they mean it; and 2) they intend to put everybody else who thinks differently out of it.

I don’t know why we refuse to believe them. With all the evidence before us I have no idea why this is hard to process. They could in fact be said to have behaved with admirable forthrightness, while we have behaved with credulous idiocy. Is it possible we distrust them so thoroughly that we don’t believe them even when they’re telling us the absolute truth?

Maybe. But it’s no more surprising, or shouldn’t be any more surprising, that doctors are jihadists than it is that student pilots are.

  5. And the new British PM refuses to allow the words “Moslem” or “Islam” be part of the discussion on terrorism. Is there any hope for Britain anymore?
