Our government supports him. He is viewed as a "moderate" and gets lots of aid money. For doing nothing. He wil tsk tsk the murders, and be excused as too weak to put an end to t he violence. Meanwhile, the suicide bomb in Israel last week was by a Fatah affiliated group. this is his own political party. It is time for the US to immediately put pressure on Abu Mazen, including a demand that these brave and peace seeking individuals be protected. Either that, or their ideology blinds them to reality - there are some people you can't reason with, they must be defeated. And the "bitter-enders" will have to be dead if you are to be safe. I feel really sorry for the reasonable Palestinians, and they do exist. I even feel sorry for the "haters" who would be willing to tolerate what/who they hate for the sake of a decent life for themselves and their children. These folks are as much victims of the truly extremist Islamists as are the Israelis - and they have NO voice, either in their own areas, or in the world, because the "journalists" do not seek them out. I'm sure that many would speak anonymously, but they are "non-persons" because of the media story-line that must be adhered to. As for your question, it will surprise me greatly if these good and brave people survive. *Perhaps* there is a critical mass of Arabs who will reject the bitter-enders and fight it out with them. If not, then I doubt their fate will be any more widely reported than are the meetings that led to their murders. "All the news that fits the script", after all.
