There’s nothing nicer than when a bully gets so freaked by your strength that she voluntarily disappears from your life:
Rosie O’Donnell says she will likely never speak to “The View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck again after an on-air tiff last week that led to O’Donnell’s early departure from the show.
The former host of the ABC daytime chatfest says in a video blog posted on her Web site that she has never tried harder to be friends with someone, but she doesn’t think she succeeded with Hasselbeck.
“I haven’t spoken to her, and I probably won’t, and I think it’s just as well,” she said. “I wrote her an e-mail, and she wrote me back, and there you have it.”
Apparently Rosie, like so many “progressives” prefers it when she can spout off without the messiness of the marketplace of ideas.
Incidentally, Hasselbeck, whom Rosie insultingly called a coward, believes (too nicely, I think) that there’s merit in continuing to talk with Rosie:
Elisabeth told “Extra” exclusively that despite this morning’s fight that led to Rosie calling her “cowardly,” their friendship will endure!
“I am fine,” she said. “We are used to debating things there. You have women who care a lot about things.”
Elisabeth defended her clash with Rosie, explaining, “We’re honest, and we deal with things up front. I’m not a person to put aside my inner feelings for somebody and not deal with an issue just because of their name and who they are.”
She even sees the good out of all the hoopla, saying, “For two women who disagree on many things – socially, politically – we also have a lot of passion. I’d rather be dealing with someone with passion for this world that we live in than someone with apathy.”
Even though she hasn’t spoken to Rosie since the fight, she says, “I believe that we are mature women who can resolve, and I hope we can. I’ve been able to develop a friendship with Rosie, and I would hope that a disagreement or a heated debate wouldn’t be the end of a relationship.”
Kind of makes you wonder who is the real coward in this political debate, doesn’t it?

Rosie who ,Elizabeth what ? Don’t sweat the small stuff.
For once I agree with swampy. This matter is trivial. I’ve never watched that henfest called The View (I’ve never watched American Idol either for all that). That Rose and Liz can’t reconcile proves estrogen has no innate magical healing powers but I never suspected it did.
The View was never anything more than a Left/Liberal coffee klatch for those desperately in need of medication…or of real lives to live. Count me in with Swampy and Z on this one, too.
I’d agree with you all except that, while we’re not watching The View, a bunch of other people are. Likewise, it’s manifestly sucking up a lot of air space, both on TV and in the media — otherwise, how would people like you and me, who don’t watch it, know so much about it? All of this means that Rosie’s views get much more play than your intelligent, rational ones. Given that reality, I think it’s important to be aware of what’s going on out there.
I just reread this post, Book, and I thought it was a good analysis of the personalities. Of course I wasn’t paying attention to them myself, so I must find my sources elsewhere, like here.
