Does the BBC even realize how silly this sounds?
Gunmen have killed at least four people in a raid on the Gaza home of a Fatah official, ending the third truce in as many days between Palestinian groups.
The dawn killings came hours after the ceasefire was agreed by feuding factions Hamas and Fatah.
Earlier an Egyptian diplomat was shot and wounded. Previous deals also failed within hours.
Almost 30 people have died since fierce fighting broke out in Gaza on Sunday, including 14 in one attack on Tuesday.
Four Israelis were also injured on Tuesday, one seriously, by a rocket fired into the town of Sderot, near the Gaza Strip.
Israeli aircraft later bombed uninhabited areas of northern Gaza often used for rocket launches as a “deterrent”, the military said.
In my simplistic world, a truce is a genuine break in hostilities, during which the wounded receive care, and the military leaders at least go through the motions of trying to resolve their disputes without further bloodshed. In Gaza, however, a truce is nothing more than an opportunity to have a drink (non-alcoholic, of course), and reload your weapons for further mayhem.
Cold-heartedly, because 70% of the Palestinian people voted for Hamas, I can’t weep to much for the adults who brought this horror on themselves, although I’ll always feel despair at those children born into, indoctrinated by, and killed by this insane ideology. I only wish that, as they fight amongst themselves, they’d take a little break from the relentless barrage of death they keep trying to rain down on Israel.
