Cynics grieve too and wish we could be Pollyanna's, but alas, it can't be so. I can't close my eyes to the lies and hypocrisy all around me. The media are far beyond my feeble vocabulary to describe. We need Dante to come back and do a couple more layers in hell, one for Islamic terrorists and an even a deeper on for the media.

One thing was funny though. The Hezbos claimed to have sunk an Israeli ship; the Israeli's denied it. Then it came to light that it was a picture of an Australian naval vessel purposely sunk many years ago.

Could they be so simple minded that they thought nobody would notice.

Much as it grieves me, I have to agree with erp. That's the biggest problem conservatives have: assuming the opposition is as nice as they are.
I wasn't aware that anyone believed the Iwo Jima photograph was staged. I'm sorry to hear that anyone does. But "a man hears what he wants to hear."

My late Dad was at Iwo Jima and said that he saw the flag-raising on Mt. Suribachi, and was surprised when the photo was published, as he hadn't know the photographer was there. He said that he knew that this was the second flag-raising, replacing a smaller flag, but always said that the claims that the photo was somehow "posed" were bogus. As I pointed out, he didn't even know there was a photographer present, so he obviously didn't see anything that looked like "staging".

Dad had a small (about 18" wide by 12" tall) bronze copy of the national memorial sculpture made from this photo, and used to turn it so that we were looking directly into the faces of the man at the bottom. "THAT's the angle I saw it from," he used to say :).

Michael Barone is such a very nice guy, that I believe he isn't being disingenuous when he says ... America’s often well-intentioned Fifth Column, which doesn’t mean to destroy us …

I believe the opposite to be true and Barone's naiveté is dangerous because it gives cover to those among us who really do want to destroy us.

This topic will draw controversy however, there can be no doubt of the truth when the truth is revealed. Time and time again I have weighed the Muslim frustration with Israel (of which there is a lot). I have tried very hard to see both sides of this c...

Propaganda is the most powerful when it is true. Not slightly true or partially true, but entirely true.

[...] Michael Barone wrote a wonderful piece today which describes the other front in our war against terrorism. That front is against those liberal elites who teach, write, and speak about their moral relativism and the hatred they have for this country: (h/t Bookworm Room) […]Our covert enemies are harder to identify, for they live in large numbers within our midst. And in terms of intentions, they are not enemies in the sense that they consciously wish to destroy our society. On the contrary, they enjoy our freedoms and often call for their expansion. But they have also been working, over many years, to undermine faith in our society and confidence in its goodness. These covert enemies are those among our elites who have promoted the ideas labeled as multiculturalism, moral relativism and (the term is Professor Samuel Huntington’s) transnationalism.
