Look in the mirror

This is an NPR story about a “how to” Jihad book that ended up published on line.   William McCants, a West Point scholar, discusses the larger principles in the book, including the admonition to manipulate the press better.  I wondered if Steve Inskeep, as he conducted the interview, realized that, in past interviews, he’s frequently fallen in step with the jihadists’ goals for Western media.

  1. There is certainly a savagery to the American MSM. So-called American journalists have turned on their countrymen.

You will have seen this outrageous revelation from PowerLine: (excerpt/link below to ‘Cold Fury’)

‘A friend in Washington decided to research the Washington Post’s coverage of the kidnapping and murder of Privates Menchaca and Tucker in comparison with alleged misdeeds by American troops:

I asked my intern to do a little research today because yesterday’s WashPost outlook section was just so over-the-top in its anti-American soldier articles.
I asked him to check how many article/editorials the Post did regarding the two soldiers who were grotesquely tortured, Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, of Houston, Texas and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, of Madras, Ore.

There are 7 news articles in all. 2 or 3 of the articles are actually amalgamations of Iraq-related news stories. There are no editorials. One of the articles actually groups the kidnapping of the 2 soldiers together with a story about US soldiers charged with murdering Iraqis. When I put in a search for the names of the 2 soldiers plus the word “torture” nothing came up. The last of the 7 was published on 6/28/06.

I’m sure you’ll be gratified to know that when I typed in the word “Haditha” the search turned up 149 Washington Post hits, including editorials and news items. Since June 19th (the day after the first news story re: the 2 soldiers appeared), there have been 12 items published in WaPo on Haditha, compared to 7 on the soldiers.

When I typed in “Abu Ghraib” the search engine stalled because the search would’ve returned more than 1000 documents.’

Did the American media aid in the massacre of our soldiers?

  2. including the admonition to manipulate the press better.

I think some of Bush’s advisers need to tell Bush the same thing.

  3. His point that because we knocked down Al Qaeda’s leadership, they have to lower themselves to using the internet to distribute training materials which make them quite vulnerable to enemy intelligence gathering, is interesting.

It’s related to a point I made before on blackfive that terroist cells take longer to do attacks and get taken down more often, because they can no longer pool their resources. They have no head, therefore while they are acting sort of random, they are also not acting very smart.

NPR said “justice” in relation to Somalia. I suggest to NPR not to show their biases to people like me, if they expect to be in the shadows.

The terroists are attempting to make it appear that the United’s States military is weaker than it appears, because they believe they can bleed us economically. The best way to prove them wrong and mess up their plans, is to show that the US has no limits economically or militaristically. There are things you can do to present this “illusion” that isn’t really an illusion, without committing your army to an invasion of someplace like Iran. Democrats know this, they know it is possible, their dog and pony shows always use this illusionary principle. But they won’t tell Bush this, they won’t tell America how to do it, because they want us to fail. And we are, in terms of the media because Bush doesn’t know how to lie, but Democrats do. Roosevelt certainly did.

Correct, Muslims must learn the secrets of the West. The whole Muslims must learn from the West to defeat the West, and the whole America must learn from our enemy goes all the way back to Sun Tzu’s “Know thy Enemy and you wil lKnow Thy self”.

But the most clearly conclusive example is this one, of Sparta vs Athens.

This is good war and psychological comments, Book. Worthy of West Point. It’s a clue that intellectualism is a weapon in the military, while in the civilian Ivy League universities it is a rusted up piece of gangrenous steel.
