I’m heading into another insanely busy day, so won’t post until later. However, I couldn’t wait to tell you about a disturbing book I’m reading called Female Chauvinist Pigs : Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture
Levy herself is a product of that generation and the child of free love hippies. She’s pro-choice and anti-conservative — and yet, she’s disturbed and disgusted by a culture that encourages women to think that equality means aping men’s basest behavior, rather than their best. It’s a good book, an easy read and, as I said, very disturbing. Since I still have elementary children, I’ve only been peripherally aware of this phenomenom, but I know it’s out there, and this book brought it slap dash into my face.

What upsets me is that these women by these kind of actions admit that men are the superior beings and women should want to be just like them when the truth is that women and men are far different with neither being superior or the inferior.
Equality is under the law and in opportunities. Men are physically stronger, hence if one of them is around, I let him do the heavy lifting. We’re stronger in other ways. Perhaps in patience and endurance. Whatever the case, I don’t want men to be like us and become feminized and have facials (I read that there are mud packs for men, ugh!) and I certainly don’t want to become masculinized and be forced to watch football games and drink beer.
Viva la difference still works.
I can’t begin to tell you how disgusted I am by what my 14-year-old tells me is going on with the girls and boys at the Middle school! Are there no parents teaching morals or are these girls — giving it away at 13 and 14 — doing it for the attention because there isn’t any at home?
I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that the pressure to feminize men is producing an equal and opposite pressure to masculinize women.
Case in point, check out this Metafilter post from a guy who is planning to go into therapy, and possibly get a sex change, because he keeps glancing at womens’ bodies.
That’s right, being a hetrosexual guy is weird and freaky. Only lesbians are allowed to find women’s bodies attractive, so he has to be a lesbian trapped in a man’s body.

This whole thing would be funny, if I wasn’t riding the tiger that is.
We’re all riding the tiger for that matter. Let’s pray the tiger doesn’t decide to eat us, before we can get off at a safe stopping point.
